THEOLOGY

Asbury is a progressive Christian faith community. We count those in the Oregon-Idaho conference of the United Methodist Church as our friends and colleagues. We believe in the ecumenical association of all those who strive to walk in the spirit of Jesus.

CHRISTIAN

We are active students of Jesus Christ. As Methodists, we believe that the living core of the Christian faith is revealed in Scripture, illuminated by tradition, brought alive in personal experience, and confirmed by reason. Our faith inspires our service to others.

UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Under the authority of our Bishop, we’re a part of the larger United Methodist Church. Together with our United Methodist siblings across the globe we work collectively on relief projects.

BIBLE

Guided by the Holy Spirit, we take the Bible seriously but not literally. While copies of the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible will be found in our sanctuary, we encourage members to study different versions of the Bible. Nuances gained by study of various translations inform our insights. We believe the the Bible is a living, breathing document guiding us, and bringing us into harmony with those who have walked the road ahead of us.
